How did you get started with photography

My sister and I set up a darkroom in my grandmother's basement one summer and the magic of watching the black and white prints develop totally captivated my interest- I've been doing it ever since!

What do you love about your job?

I love seeing how happy people are when they see their final images. Some people think they "don't photograph well" - not true! There is a way to photograph everyone well and I love discovering how to put everyone's best face forward. I love meeting new people and going places I never would have gone otherwise.

What are some of your favorite places in Los Angeles to take photographs?

In Los Angeles I enjoy shooting in my neighborhood of Echo Park, there is always great light and great backdrops for fun portraits. Barnsdall Art Park, Echo Park Lake and Elysian Park at golden hour are also really nice. I'm always down for a hike or a drive to get a great shot. Often it's about timing a shoot with beautiful light rather than focusing on the location. (Unless of course that's the subject.)
