camera Sony Alpha 7R II

My passion for photography started when i noticed a lot of my friends were concerned about their body image and would harm themselves to relieve some of the self hatred they had burning inside of them. I saw photography and art as my way to help them, and to show them how i saw them and how many others did too. My training was through myself and my personal development learning from inspirational photographers in the industry that i had the pleasure of meeting, Louis Murphy the photographer for KEVIN.MURPHY came across me in a photography group page on Facebook and asked me to come assist him on a shoot for Jack London, from that moment my career in the industry spiked and i can gladly say that networking has been my biggest learning tool. Since then I've been working professionally as a photographer and videographer in the fashion industry for 3 years, working with big clients such as Obey, Diesel, SuperDry, Four Kings, WNDRR and Travis Honda along side working with many start up fashion labels, established makeup artists, charities and models from Chadwick, Vivien's, Giant and FRM model management.

How did you get started with photography

Photography has always been my passion. I bought my my first camera in 2003, it was an old Nikon film camera. Three years after I finally could afford a digital Canon 20D with a 50 mm lence. I decide to become a professional photographer straight after I graduated from the journalism faculty of Moscow State University. Yes, I enjoyed being journalist but at the same time I started understanding that writing is not my thing. I'm a visual person. I decided to become a professional and get a new diploma. I graduated from the photography faculty of British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow.
Photography continues to engage my mind. I am grateful to the people, who have crossed my path and helped me to become who I am.

What do you love about your job?

I love to work with people, create their personal histories and memories. In my opinion my fun approach frees every person to be themselves in front of my camera, revealing their true personalities and emotions. I connect my love of photography with a journalistic sense and artistic flair. I always try to reveal inner beauty of people and the joy of life and show all of this in one given moment. So I like being a family photographer. At the same time I love to work for creative businesses, publishers and photographic agencies. I like the collaborative process. I work in commercial and editorial photography with an emphasis on portraiture. There’s great satisfaction in seeing shots that were made possible by a team of passionate people: make up artists, stylists, producers and clients.

What are some of your favorite places in Melbourne to take photographs?

I like to take portraits in central of the city. There are many beautiful old buildings mixed in with new architecture and the small narrow streets are quite lovely. Also my favorite place for the fashion and family photo shoots is Sorrento beach. I can remember getting there really early on a morning, when the weather was little bit foggy. The clouds stayed for quite some time, creating a special mood.
