camera Canon EOS-1D X MARK II, Canon EOS 70D, Canon C300mkii

I began studying film & television production as well as sound production & graphic design. After working on a few short films I found that I was interested in the field of cinematography and I began to practice making short clips just with friends etc. this I then decided to pursue as a career, beginning to do videography for weddings as well as filming a few conference style talks for various companies and local church events. Through this I then went travelling and found myself focusing more and more on photography as opposed to cinematography/videography, although still enjoying them, I just became more passionate and invested in photography as a medium, transferring the skills I learnt from film & television to photography. Skills that included: Knowledge of Cameras, Lighting setups, Editing, Digital Art etc. I then started transition my work further into photography, alternating between both it and videography. This led to me doing a lot of TFP and portfolio shoots with models doing portraits, shooting events such as weddings but also gigs for musician friends of mine etc. I have enjoyed all this and continue to develop and further my skills in the industry. It's been vary tough so far, hard trying to get jobs just because of competition in the industry but I've found that as my portfolio grew, so has my following.

How did you get started with photography

My artist/photographer daughter, Bel inspired me to literally ‘seize the day’ and a large part of my life changed from business travel to photographic journeys. In my corporate life, I saw much of the world from inside sanitized, air-conditioned cocoons. I travelled to dozens of countries but I came to realize that I hadn’t learned much about those places in airplanes, hotel suites, meeting rooms and expensive restaurants. I have been a National Geographic Magazine subscriber for many years and read a feature article on ‘The hundred most beautiful places on earth’. In conversation with my daughter, I said that those hundred places would be my ‘Bucket List’. The following Christmas she gave me a handcrafted journal with one page for each of those destinations. My future was changed by my daughter’s encouragement to see the world properly.

What do you love about your job?

The three pillars of my working life, Advertising, Travel and Photography are linked by my passion for purposeful storytelling. I aim to entertain, inform and inspire. There are millions of worthy stories waiting to be told. I enjoy discovering and revealing those stories, regardless of whether the audience is hundreds of thousands or just one person.

What are some of your favorite places in Melbourne to take photographs?

I can't say that I have a favourite place to shoot. I think there are interesting stories everywhere. Our job is to see them.
