Like a lot of people I was handed a camera when I was a little kid. I think I was 4 or 5 when my Mom gave me a little 110 camera. Each week she'd give me one roll of film, and I could shoot whatever caught my fancy. Then, each week we'd roll up to the Fotomat in the mall parking lot, drop off the film and a few days later we'd return to see the results! I've been hooked ever since, and eventually learned about photography, the history of it, the how-to's and moved on from there.
It's hard to pin down what shoots I enjoy the most. When someone asks me that I usually reply with, 'The last one.' :-) Because every shoot is unique, different and challenging. I tend to lean towards event and portrait shoots the most. There's something about event photography, where you're capturing the ebb & flow of people interacting with one another that's fun, spontaneous and rewarding. And the intimacy of portrait photography is wonderful as well. Trying to capture the 'right' look, style, and feeling with someone you've just met can be exhilarating.
Nashville is such a photogenic city! Downtown is a great place to shoot. The river, the bridges, the city streets, they all offer great spaces for photo opportunities. I also love to shoot in the many parks we have, Centennial, Percy Warner, Radnor Lake, and others.See Portfolio & Book
I have had an interest in photography since I was 8 years old and would turn allowance money for doing chores into Kodak disposable cameras. I studied business and took numerous photography courses while attending California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I've trained with numerous professional photographers over the years, and now teach others about the craft.
I love incorporating the natural world in my images whenever possible. Branding can have a powerful impact when combining a subject with natural elements.
I really enjoy shooting with the Nashville Skyline in the background from the riverfront. The interior of Opryland is also a beautiful location!See Portfolio & Book
