I actually got started in photography after funding our 1st few photoshoots for my wife's clothing line. From my perspective, it was quite the challenge to get the volume of photos I needed to present her line in the right light via social media, magazines ads/publications, catalogues and look books to grow the business. I thought the cost was too high, too many restrictions, and the price to get good photographer cost more than the entire collection and models combined, so I decided to get into it myself. I've always had somewhat of an eye for it, but I quickly learned that to make an amazing photo that was indicative of her brand, I'd have to invest in coursework to learn the equipment, coursework to learn great composition, and invest in a great camera body, with superior glass (lenses).
I enjoy doing Portraits and Portrait Candids the most, because they tell such an authentic story that's unplanned, unscripted, that provokes your imagination with unexplained optimism and resolve.
I live in NYC area and Minneapolis, thus I have a lot places that are location favs. In NYC, my favs are: SoHo, Chelsea, Brooklyn Heights, Inspiration Point, and The Cloisters area. In Minneapolis area: St. Paul, Split Rock, Two Harbors, and multiple spots around downtown. It's tough to shoot their in winter though :-).See Portfolio & Book
While in high school I always was into studio art and photography. When i went to college i studied engineering but never lost my passion for arts. I started teaching myself photography and eventually started picking up jobs doing so. After 3 years in college i decided photography was the right choice for me so i moved to nyc and became a full time photographer.
I enjoy music events mostly because it challenges me as a photographer. Every show is different with its own lighting challenges which i have to navigate.
In NYC I love shooting just about anywhere. From a rooftop with the skyline in the background to a dimly lit subway there is always something to exploreSee Portfolio & Book
