camera Nikon D750

I bought my first DSLR in May of 2015 to take with me while I'm out climbing, hiking, and camping. I started out shooting just landscapes, but eventually took my first portrait client in July of 2016. The very next day I went into my advertising agency gig and turned in my notice. I've been fortunate enough to keep chasing that dream ever since.

How did you get started with photography

I became a photographer by force of nature. My mother gave me a digital camera with about 2MP and I'd take it to school and document my friends and be silly. I look back at those images now and notice I kept them as organized as I do currently as a professional. Some things simply fall into place beautifully.

What do you love about your job?

I love connecting with subjects, music, a moment. I love telling stories. I love creating art with a group or individual. I love being a fly-on-the-wall and capturing candid, real moments without the subject knowing or adjusting. I love pooling input from multiple sources and creating a product that makes everyone happy.

What are some of your favorite places in Phoenix to take photographs?

In the Phoenix area, I love Papago Park, Hole in the Rock and Encanto Park. When I lived in the Bay Area, I spent a lot of time photographing on the streets of Oakland or in the hills of Berkeley.
