I've been shooting since high school when I took a random photo class and had a lot of fun. My grandpa, who used to be a portrait photographer, dug out a box of old cameras out of his garage and I still work with them today. I became enthralled with photojournalism in college and started bringing a documentary slant to everything I shot. I got a job as a linguist and media projects coordinator after college and had a lot of fun combining my strange and unique skill set for a number of years. I eventually transitioned to working for alt-weeklies and food magazines while shooting commercial work and portraits for various clients. I still work on documentary projects focusing on under-exposed stories in Indigenous communities whenever I get the chance.
Being able to bring a natural narrative to a project is always really challenging and rewarding. Storytelling happens through more than snapping a pretty picture, and being involved in a project that lets me represent that story is something special.
Any day when Mt Hood is visible is a special day. I love taking hikes outside the city and getting into the trees, which is massively different than the desert environment I grew up in.See portfolio & book
