Photography has helped me find myself and my place in this world. It is the best way I know of to share the magnificence I see in people. I truly believe this was what I was born to do. Photography is my passion and I have worked diligently over the years to refine my skills so that my vision is effectively conveyed through my work. There is nothing more fulfilling for me than being able to create a photograph that captures all of the love felt between people. I want to help you tell your love story.

shooting full time for 12 years, shooting for nearly 20. I studied photography in high school and collage. Worked at a camera store for a few years, then as an assistant for an architectural photographer. Then a commercial photographer. after which I went out on my own. every day I read and look at new ideas, techniques, and gear. When not "working" (cause its never felt like work for me). I still nearly always have a camera on me with my 5 year old son.

How did you get started with photography

Having worked as an adventure travel writer since completing school, I bought my first camera in order to capture images of the unique and interesting locations that I was writing about. My passion for capturing the subtleties and emotions that can make a photograph much more powerful than simply a moment in time has pushed me to constantly work to improve my craft and use images to convey messages in a spectrum of feelings.

What do you love about your job?

While photos often communicate the main narrative, I feel like a skillful photographer is able to tap into the moments and details that may go unnoticed by most. I believe that photography doesn't just tell a story, but can be used to guide the reader of that story - letting them into the dominant narrative, but also selectively showing the tides that lie hidden beneath the surface.

What are some of your favorite places in Reno to take photographs?

With Reno being built of such a rich tapestry of neon and lights, and the Lake Tahoe and Sierras, in contrast, containing such a sense of natural and seasonally-changing beauty, my favorite places to shoot are those places just stumbled across. Many photographers jockey for similar images from similar locations, however I enjoy heading away from the beaten path and seeing what lies in the distant corners.
