How did you get started with photography

I got started when I was 12 and there was a short photography lesson in school. We had a little plastic camera laying around the house with a screen about and inch and a half wide, and as soon as I started shooting I fell in love. I would constantly take pictures of my dogs, flowers, my friends, and anything else around me. In the next few years, my mom saw my budding passion, so she bought me my first DSLR when I graduated from 8th grade. Shortly after I started taking clients so I could pay my mom back, and from that point on my business grew.

What do you love about your job?

My favorite thing about photography is the reactions from clients when they see their images. It warms my heart seeing clients post their photos on social media, and when I do sessions for family and friends, I often get the pleasure of seeing my work hung on their wall when I come visit. Knowing that the photos are being enjoyed, and that they will be enjoyed for years to come, is the reason why I love what I do.

What are some of your favorite places in Salem to take photographs?

My favorite place for photo session has been Bush Park because of the variety of beautiful backgrounds available. I enjoy using the old houses, the greenhouse, the rose bushes, and the abundance of trees. I also enjoy going downtown or to the bridges at Riverfront Park. For some sessions I also use my beautiful campus because of it's beautiful nature trail, and that's a great choice for those who want a forest atmosphere with more privacy.
