Jorge F
Sydney
Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Jorge started into photography when he was 21 without thinking about it too much. He is a keen observer and he just needed a tool for to tell the situations that happened around him. The curiosity about the people interact each other was, is and will his photographic motive. After a while someone pick him up to the exhibition of Sebastian Salgado on Madrid and he felt in love completely. Therefore the next day he went to buy the first camera (Nikon F3). Then his hobby becomes profession and on these days he felt on a cloud specially when someone pays for the first time to do a photo, his first exibition, his first day in a studio. No matters is he has to shoot a shoes, a plate of food, a model, a events, every day is different, different people, different venue and this is one on the best thing of to be a photographer. The worse….he forget it. Traveling, meeting people, sunset, sunrise, music, looking trhough the camera the world, this is a gift. 'When someone transmits a feeling and it gives you through the camera lens, that is the best'.

How did you get started with photography?

Focusing on Photography at school, I nearly got thrown out of school for spending all my time in the darkroom, when I was taken aside I informed my teachers I had completed all the Maths and Geography curriculum, in advance so I could concentrate on darkroom time. Now I operate much more within the system, but am very committed to get the image I am after. Whilst I started in landscape, and studied Photography at University, focusing on Documentary, the greatest challenge and most rewarding subject has always been portraits and creating beauty, irrespective of the content. This is what motivates my continued interest in photography.

What type of shoots do you enjoy doing the most?

Portraits and challenging commercial work. Every face is different and I enjoy making images of people that they love, using lighting and studio equipment to refine their features to authentically convey their best side is a source of satisfaction to me.

What are some of your favorite places in Sydney to take photographs?

Sydney has no shortage of great locations, offering possibilities to suit any time of day, on recent Snappr shoots I have shot Corporate portraits in narrow city laneways, double portraits in city parks as a bokeh panorama, and day for night portraits in broad sunlight, in short for me my favourite place is soft open light that adds to the character of the narrative and theme of the images, I use light, lens and techniques to magnify the look of the images. However it is hard to beat a beautiful emotive portrait at Clovelly pool, in the golden hour. Sometimes I shoot backlight in theatres, other times, in my studio with 10 lights, it depends on the narrative of the subject.

How did you get started with photography?

I got into photography when I was 16 while I was still in high school. I bought a camera with money I had saved from working at McDonalds that I had originally intended to buy my first car. I got my very first paid gig that same year - photographing a Christmas Party. By the time I turned 18 I started working in the nightclub industry as an event photographer

What type of shoots do you enjoy doing the most?

I enjoy taking portraits the most, whether it's corporate headshots, engagement shoots, or editorial fashion; as long as the subject is a person. It is very interesting to take a glimpse into someone else's life through the camera lense, often one that is very very different to mines.

What are some of your favorite places in Sydney to take photographs?

Centennial park during sunset. The The sunset gl
