Beatriz Arango studied Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography at the International Center of Photography in New York. The following year she worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for many renowned photographers, she especially enjoyed assisting and learning from Frank Franca a fashion and lighting master. She enjoys travel photography and visual storytelling, but she knows she can apply this concept of telling a story through a picture to any type of photography she does.
I love being able to do different things every time, meet new people and physically move from one place to the other.
I enjoy taking pictures of environments, spaces, city escapes, and behind the scenes. For instance, in Fashion week I enjoyed taking pictures before the show, stylists helping models get ready, hair and make-up, etc. But if I had to pick one, I would choose “Travel”, telling the story of a place and what makes it special.
Selected exhibitions: Guatephoto 2015, The Tipping Point at ICP, NYC, 2015, Barcu Art Fair in Bogota, Colombia, 2017. In 2017, Lonely Planet selected and published one of my images.
My hair can tell what the weather is going to be like on any given day.
