Brenton's path to being a photographer started before he was born; his father was a professional photographer his entire life. When growing up, Brenton's ABC's were aperture, bulb timer, and circles of confusion. Though Brenton has been mostly self taught, his father has always been there to offer an opinion, critique, or words of encouragement to help further his studies. Today, the passion Brenton has for photography is greater than it was yesterday, and continues to grow with every sunrise.

More about Brenton C....

What do you love about your job?

Capturing an image that makes the viewer wish they were there to see it for themselves, such as finding that one composition among hundreds of possibilities. Or planning a shoot for months, getting just the right conditions the day of, and then only having a few minutes to make that perfect image before it's gone. And sometimes, it's just being at the right spot at the right time and capturing a photo with no planning at all! "f/8 and be there!!!"

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I'm the official photographer for Bawdy Storytelling, a monthly live show in San Francisco. The show is about real people, telling real stories, about their sexual adventures (and sometime mis-adventures!). The host, Dixie De La Tour, spends so much time curating and crafting the (mostly) amateur storytellers to get up on stage and bare their soul to an audience upwards of 200 people for the first time.

My goal is to capture those visceral moments from the storytellers right at their emotional peaks. There have been many occasions when a storyteller sees my photos and they remember exactly where they were in their story. Seeing that moment captured makes them feel very empowered and is something they will draw from for the rest of their lives.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

Forbes.com (8/22/2019) wrote an article about the Bawdy Storytelling podcast that included one of my images.

A fun fact about this photographer

I have a 160 lbs. St. Bernard named Quake, who loves camping in the wilderness with me! I'm a driving instructor for Land Rover and also run an off road company that focuses on vehicle driving skills, recovery techniques, and trip planning.
