Christos Van Nathan is a photographer living and working out of Nashville Tennessee. Photography has always been part of his life. Helping his grandfather and father in their studio in New York at a young age was just the start. After completing his degree in photography, he started his career in Nashville with an executive headshot company. After years of experience, corporate headshots became his forte. Working one on one with clients, he aims to produce professional yet unique images that reflect the individual personality of his varying clientele. But outside of the office he also has a passion for the creative side of photography. Fashion, product, travel photography, and more have also played an important role in his career.
Other than that fact that I can freeze time in an image, the idea of a light tight box that captures the contrast of light and dark is a pretty cool concept to me. So you can say I love not only the act of taking the image but also love the tool that I use to take that image with. Photography allows me to do something I naturally enjoy doing while also providing valuable memories and tools for others, whether that be the kiss in a wedding or the headshot that helps land them another client.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
From weddings to events to lanscape to fashion, I've done just about everything. But my favorite types of shoots are the ones where I can spend time getting to know my client as more than just a quick image. Everyone always says they hate getting their picture taken. When I can make someone feel comfortable behind the camera, it's not me that makes the magic happen, it's them.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I won first and third place in a photo competition a few years back and have been a feature RAW artist here in Nashville. But my crowing achievement is winning most creative in art school. I assume that has to say something.
A fun fact about this photographer
When your job is also your hobby, you need other outlets. My two hobbies outside of photography are rock climbing and axe throwing.
