What do you love about your job?
I absolutely love the people I meet and the stories I get to tell through the photographs that create so much feeling when you look at them. One of my favorite things to shoot is food and it’s 100% true that you eat with your eyes. It’s the same with other photo categories too though. You may not be “eating” with your eyes when you see architecture or interior home photographs, but you feel something deep in your soul when you connect with an image. Same goes for portrait shoots, travel photography, events, family and couple photos. The feelings you get when you see photos and the people you get to meet when shooting photography, it’s what I love most.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I do a lot of food, drink, and product photography. I really love getting a feel for what the client has in mind and then doing some test shots to see what they think and if we nailed the vision. Especially in portrait shoots I’ve done, I like to talk to all my clients and get to know them a little so any nervous energy fades and we can be comfortable and loose and have fun on our shoots. I also do travel and event photography. I feel like those are all about making connections with people in order to create magic behind the lense. Real estate photography happened by accident for me because my landlord would ask me to shoot some of her properties and loved the photos. It’s been really fun getting to shoot such a wide variety of photos in all categories.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I was featured in TK Business magazine as the Marketing Manager for The Wheel Barrel alongside my colleagues when the restaurant was featured in 2023. I was also featured as a photographer and did two online magazine interviews in 2023 for Voyage KC and Canvas Rebel.
A fun fact about this photographer
I have driven across the country 9 times and worked for a non-profit in San Diego right out of college. I was a barista for 10+ years and then turned bartender. I love flavor and creating incredible drinks. I am currently in culinary school to get my degree in food entrepreneurship.
