More about Evan H....

What do you love about your job?

There is something unique about being a photographer as it relates to other art mediums. That aspect of chance, that you pressed down at the exact right moment, creating a bridge to memories that will last a lifetime. It incorporates math and science, aesthetic and persuasion. You have to be a people person, connecting with your subject, bringing out expression from a nervous soul in front a lens, turn around and now the situation calls for you to fall back and be a fly on the wall. Adapting to the different variables to create a beautiful final product is why I fell in love with photography.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I have done more senior shoots than any other. High school seniors are typically really nervous at the start of a shoot. They either brought a friend or family member and are so scared of all the judging on lookers. Naturally this makes it hard to get them relaxed. This makes me take an interesting approach that seems to work well. From the moment we meet to shoot, I level with them and make them feel as though I am a friend and not a hired gun(for lack of a better term). My favorite part of a shoot is when I see them break through and overcome their initial fear. That is when you capture their character.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

1st and 2nd place in B/W photography in 2014 at State and regional levels in the T.A.P.P.S run photography competition.

A fun fact about this photographer

I love to play music! I play quite a few instruments, but right now I am obsessed with synthesizers and sound engineering. I'm listening to Jimi Hendricks right now and I am instantly calmed when I hear lofi hip-hop.
