James Rhodimer began as an art director in Hollywood designing film and TV advertising and working closely with the top photographers in the industry. In 2004 He shot his first feature film for an indie director and their after combined his video and photography talents in shooting and promoting his own films for clients like MALO and RATED M, the clothing lines by Mario Lopez as well as video and photo shoots for Frostie Heidi and Frank of KLOS radio in Los Angeles.
I love creating an image in my head and drawingboard and then recreating it in the moment with people. Capturing a moment that happens organically is addicting.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I flew to Chicago to shoot a promo short film for a film producer. We found a vintage loft in Lincoln Park and dressed the set in a speakeasy feel. We had 4 models portray the different departments of a film company and surrounded our client with sumptuous furniture and wardrobe and a magician. We used lots of vintage props and a noir lighting style.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I have a series of images called "apocalyptic faeries" that I've created with silicone wings. One of which will be hanging in the Springville Museum of Art in Utah for most of 2019.
A fun fact about this photographer
I used to sing and play guitar in an alternative rock band for about 10 years.
