John developed a passion for photography while training at the National Art School. He has since decided to turn his passion into a creative service. He believes photography is more than just knowing about cameras - it's more importantly about interaction with his subjects and clients to show them in their best light, to communicate their vision, or to capture the spirit of an event.
Photography to me is a unique combination of vision, technique, feeling, luck, and perhaps most importantly, interaction with people/your subject. There's a tremendous excitement I get when I've positioned myself into the right place, and press the shutter at the right time, to capture a moment. And when a client tells me how happy they are with the photos I've taken, I know I've succeeded in creating something special for them.
I've worked on a variety of different shoots, but my favourite things to shoot are portraits/headshots and events. When working on projects I try to make each shoot special by approaching it in a fresh light and not imposing too many formulas, or a 'one-size-fits-al' approach. Especially because each project presents itself with a photographic problem to solve. I try to be flexible in my approach. Hopefully what this translates to is photos that sensitive and specific to the needs of the project.
