Joseph has been working the the commercial photography world for the last 20 years, and has loved every minute of it! Starting out after college he found that working as an assistant really opened his eyes to how the industry works and what is needed to get the shots from planning and logistics to the final photograph. Using this knowledge he moved up to shooting his own assignments with clients like Macy's, Home Depot, and Crate and Barrel. Enjoying the collaboration with so many talented people on every job has kept him in the industry.
I love that every day of shooting is new a different! I am faced with challenges that each product gives in lighting and composition, and having to figure out how to make each product interesting and show it in the best light.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
Having worked with a large group of people on catalog shoots, it is easy to get stressed under the tight deadlines. I try to keep my sets fun and light hearted, bringing in snacks and having music going. There are a lot of shots that need to get done and having a fun set just helps it get done faster.
