Katie Michel is an event and portrait photographer with over 1,000 hours of experience and a passion for capturing unique and beautiful photos. After working her way up to lead photographer in her first studio, she decided to branch out and use her knowledge and experience to work with families, couples, and individuals all over Sonoma County looking to capture special moments in their lives.
I love finding the unexpected in a subject and creating art from the small moments that are easy to miss. Being able to see the happiness on someone's face as they see their first family photo, or watching someone's confidence blossom in front of the camera makes the job worth it. Being able to be a part of that moment is priceless.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
When I do portrait shoots I get to capture the essence of who someone is while making their portrait shoot a fun and memorable experience. It doesn't matter if it is playing tag during a family portrait shoot or cracking corny jokes to get a genuine smile during a portrait session, I always aim to make getting photos taken a great experience for my subject so they can relax, have a nice time, and receive some great photos to cherish forever.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I have been displayed locally around Sonoma County for my landscape work, including at Lagunitas Brewing.
A fun fact about this photographer
Before working in photography I was a researcher studying permaculture and plant interactions at a large research institution in Southern California. How times change!
