Kelli Hayden started playing with cameras at age 10, fell in love with the darkroom process at 15, and began shooting professionally at 18. Not one to ever take “no” for an answer, she began to build her love of photographing live music by sneaking her camera into venues and secure a spot close enough to the stage to shoot her favorite bands. Today, Kelli is a lifestyle, wedding, and travel photographer in Los Angeles and still photographs concerts and festivals in her free time.
Kelli has been photographing professionally since 2004. She built her technical and editing skills by studying and interning with established and respected photographers, eventually second-shooting alongside them on shoots and high-end events. She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA, and always travels all over.
Depends on what I'm photographing. With weddings, it's being the one who captures priceless moments on a couples' most important day of their lives. With interiors, it's capturing the "soul" of the home to present it to new potential owners. I also love the challenges and problem-solving as well as educating the client on ideal lighting situations, angles, etc. It would be boring if everything was so easy.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
Every occasion and every type of shoot requires making it feel special and honest. I aim to make everything special by connecting with the client and listening to what they want and what they don't want. Recently, I did an engagement shoot for a couple and being that it was very very early in the morning, the bride didn't have time to get her hair professionally done so I brought my own tools (curling iron, hair spray, etc.) and did her hair myself in the location parking lot because I knew that even by sprucing her up a little, despite me not being a hairstylist, that she'd love her photos even more with her looking put-together, as opposed to not. She'll also look back at those images years from now and remember how much fun and special that day was, not just because of the images, but because their photographer went as far as doing something thoughtful and meaningful to her that she didn't have to do, and probably something that most photographers wouldn't do at all.

A fun fact about this photographer
I still know how to shoot with 35mm, medium format, and large format film photography and process black and white film and prints. (I only currently offer digital services)
