This is largely written in the above answer, but as mentioned, I have been working professionally for 11 years, and also have a BA in Cinema in Photography with a minor in Journalism. After graduating, I moved to Los Angeles and interned with the famed Jill Greenberg for several months before coming back home to the midwest, a place where I ultimately felt most connected to. I moved to Nashville after my internship and balanced building my work here and assisting commercial photographers. Today I am a full time photographer with a robust client list, and can photograph for a wide variety of clients and needs.

More about Laura P....

What do you love about your job?

Ever since I got my first camera, I knew I wanted to be a photographer. I worked very hard and against a lot of resistance and obstacles to make it happen. I think with anyone who has fought tooth and nail to make their dreams a reality, its simply true that I love everything about my work. My work is inherently attached to me and who I am. I love the feeling I get from photographing, being on sets, and building relationships with my clients. After 11 years of work, I feel quite happily married to my work and the journey Im on.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I have shot for 11 years, so this is a really difficult question to answer. Ive done all kinds of shoots. Ive shot Tom Petty for Rolling Stone, product photography for Cracker Barrel, and countless weddings, portraits, and music shoots. One thing I try and bring to the table for every shoot is my dedication to making work that feels unique and thoughtful. I spend a lot of time looking at old photography books and art books, and try to study what made the masters of photography so great. I try and take notes from the work that came before mine and do my best to set the bar high when I work. Im also just a people person, and its important to me to make people feel happy and excited when we work together. One of my goals is for them to walk away feeling refreshed and inspired about the project we work on together.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

Ive been featured on several podcasts and most recently a documentary on Cinestill Film. I am on: "The Shoot with Matt Day", "Analog Talk Podcast", and "Cinestill Frames Episode 2, Liner Notes: Laura E. Partain". If you google my name with any of those programs, the episodes will come up :)

A fun fact about this photographer

I have two trained highlander lynx cats that walk on leashes and play fetch. Sometimes I dress them in sweaters.
