In 2005 Leith completed a Bachelor of Media Arts Majoring in Photography in New Zealand and did freelance work in real estate, event and live music music along with a short stint as a press photographer for a newspaper. After moving to Melbourne in 2006 to pursue his career, photography became more of a hobby, but still an ongoing love and passion. In 2016 Leith found a niche in product and advertising photography in the craft beer industry and set up a specialised studio at home to work in part time and develop his studio skills. Recently Leith has returned from travelling and photographing remote people and places in SE Asia and is has a full time career in photography. He has a varied portfolio of travel, landscape, real estate and product & advertising, but has the skills and willingness to branch out into other areas.
I love being creative and visually sharing my own and other people experiences. I love being out and about, not being tied to one location and never knowing where my photography may take me. It's an ever evolving adventure and my camera is always by my side on any adventure I undertake.
Recently the bulk of my commercial work has been product/advertising imagery for the craft beer industry, a sunglass brand and some Real Estate work. Photographing reflective products such as bottles and sunglasses is extremely technical, so I'm constantly experimenting with new techniques to refine my work. With my advertising work I need to be creative and am constantly on the look out for interesting things to use as props and to create new backdrops and surfaces.
I finished third place in a photography award/competition in New Zealand in 2005, but the name of it and any online reference to it now evades me given it was so long ago!
I previously worked as a professional craft beer buyer/taster and then I somehow managed to tie my two passions of craft beer and photography together into a dream freelance job! I also used to be a suba diving instructor and did underwater photography - on film of course!
