Mariano Baltazar was a skateboarder, and he was focusing on creating a sponsor video for his local skate shop Transitions. However, he was exhausted from getting hurt and after suffering a major injury that almost led to his leg getting amputated, he quit. As a result, he began photographing his friends skating and immediately fell in love with photography. A few months went by, and he reached out to his photogenic friend and photographed her. After one photo shoot, he knew this was what he wanted to pursue as a career. He is now represented by LovesickLA, and he has been an apprentice under Jose Cervantes. Jose is a professional photographer with more than 10 years of experience. Mariano is learning under his expertise, and he is learning the ins and outs of the fashion industry.
I love bringing the best out of my subjects. I love capturing their personality and showcasing confidence and positivity. I love expressing who I am though photographs, and it keeps me sane. It is a way for me to escape reality and ignore everything around me to create something beautiful and meaningful.
I enjoy shooting editorial the most because all of my editorials contain a piece of who I am and my story as an individual and growing artist. I have faced many hardships in my lifetime, and I love incorporating those aspects of my life through the wardrobe and the overall feeling/mood of the photos. Most of my editorials are very dark or bright. They represent the positive and negative events that have occurred in my life. These hardships have helped me grow as an artist, and they have brought out the best of me. My last two editorials have been published in magazines.
