More about Mark R....
What do you love about your job?
I love the feeling of a picture capturing my complete attention. Maybe it's the shadows on a cool, dark blueberry resting on a rich, chocolate cake; or the translucent glimmer of smooth black tea being poured into a clear, steaming glass with bright hints of fresh green mint. Understanding how to create a positive experience through pictures leads me to avenues of meaningful positive impact with tools that I can use to leave the world better off than when I found it. It guides my editorial images and inspires me to learn more about what I can share about the world around me, and how I can make each picture leave a positive wake.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
As I've moved through restaurants and met chefs and restauranteurs, I noticed (as unfortunate as it is) that having a great menu, an amazing chef, and hospitable service does not guarantee success. I've observed the shift of attention go from street side to websites, and that is the area I want to target. The good news is that physical location isn't everything anymore, and digital location is. Although getting good reviews is the owners responsibility, I can aid in driving attention to a website with beautiful pictures, a menu with tantalizing dishes, and anywhere else you imagine having great photos to make your restaurant a no-brainer when you find it on Google, and a positive experience when you walk through the doors.
