I have loved capturing the most important moments of my life since I was a high schooler. I have stood atop the World Trade Center, in the middle of the Big Cypress Swamp and in the Red Rock Canyon with cameras in my hand. I studied photography when the darkroom took most of my time. Now I spend my time perfecting images in the glow of a Mac bigger than any tv my family had before 2007. The technology changes but the humanity and the personification of photography remains the art behind the lens.

More about Matthew Y....

What do you love about your job?

I love getting into the session. Its a zen like experience for me. I try to give 100% of myself and to inspire the subject to do the same.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I am located in St Petersburg, Florida. I photograph people and places around all the Tampa Bay Area and specialize in professional headshots, family portraits and wedding photography.

My style is gently directed photojournalist. I try to create a balance between the carefree and the carefully posed.
Everybody has a unique personality. When I work with a client I strive to bring out the unexpected, humorous, or touching moments that make life special. My ultimate goal is to provide you with images you will cherish for years to come.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

I started my photography career in college journalism. I won many state and national awards for my images and became the Photo Editor at Valencia Community College. Now I work in portraiture and I have a 5 Star reviews on Facebook, Yelp and Google.

A fun fact about this photographer

My family history is rooted in the Amish culture. My great, great, great grandfather came to America on the Francis & Elizabeth in 1742. They are a culture that shuns technology and now I make my living taking pictures, which their religion forbids, with a Nikon D810 which is far more technologically advanced than the ship that carried men to the moon.
