Sara Tansy is an experienced professional photographer with over 10 years experience shooting for clients in Melbourne and Wellington. She specialises in commercial, lifestyle and event photography with a background in fashion photography.
Whether you need a couple of hours coverage of your event, or a couple of days to capture a campaign - she is always ready to take on new storytelling opportunities.
I love the magic of capturing a moment and creating art with it. Being able to connect with new people and tell their stories is incredibly fulfilling. Every new location, person and experience that I come across in life is a potential inspiration for a concept, which makes every day an adventure. Working with a team on a collaborative effort is also very satisfying when the final images all come together.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
In Melbourne, I was really well known for my band press shots - I always went the extra mile to come up with creative concepts and locations. I have shot bands while standing on top of cars, in drainage tunnels, on rooftops and in swimming pools!
Whatever the type of shoot, I love coming up with new and creative concepts and making sure that set design, colour palette and wardrobe all come together to make the most compelling images possible.
I recently purchased a drone and the different perspective is so exciting, I have already used it for a fashion shoot on a tennis court, and can't wait to apply it to other interesting concepts.

A fun fact about this photographer
I hold both Australian and New Zealand Permanent Residency, was born in Fiji, and have both English and United States passports!
(I was born during the 1987 Fijian Military Coup, there were strict curfews and my mother nearly wasn't allowed to travel to the hospital! Two days after I was born, I was back living on the boat with my parents.)
