Sarah Yeoman is a professional freelance photographer specializing in portraiture, food, and commercial photography. After graduating from the University of Utah with degrees in linguistics and journalism, she worked as a media producer for a nonprofit, as well as freelanced for regional newspapers and magazines. She brings a journalistic style to her shoots in order to provide candid, natural imagery.
Being able to bring a natural narrative to a project is always really challenging and rewarding. Storytelling happens through more than snapping a pretty picture, and being involved in a project that lets me represent that story is something special.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
My photojournalism background has given me the ability to be unobtrusive in documenting people's stories. So even when I'm working on a stylized magazine shoot, getting the in-between moments and the small things others might not notice is a lot of fun.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
My mom framed a picture I took in Bosnia and put it on her wall, so that was neat.
A fun fact about this photographer
I'm a conservation nerd and backpacking junkie. I try and get into nature as much as possible. I'm also overly enthusiastic about public transportation and travel. I speak a little Shoshone left over from my linguistics days.
