Shawn Gavlick has been trained as a fine art photographer from Colorado state University, he has been working personally or fine art outside of the day job of product photography and love to create all types of images. Always setting up new challenges to work through issues experienced in the past to create a better solution and also like to work out things before encountering them on a shoot with a client.
I love trying to get over a hurdle, I often will have an idea in my head what I want an image to look like and will use any resource I can to make that image a reality. That may be spending hours learning new techniques on youtube for photoshop, or spending a few days in my home studio changing things to get the shot. I also like to work in the field and in the moment be that creative person with the ideas that either fail or end up being one of the best shots of the job.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have done a few weddings and try to make sure to fulfill the requirements the client has asked for but also try to push the limit and work to get something different and unique which has often been some of the clients favorite shots.
I recently just built a water fountain in my garage to get a picture of a waterproof product, they wanted big splashes of water hitting their product. I may have flooded my garage in the middle of winter.
