I studied photography in college and I interned with a local freelance editorial and commercial photographer in St. Louis. Through working with this photographer I learned how to work with people and light for people and products. After college I worked and still work sometimes with a few commercial and advertising photographers as a digital tech and assistant. Also at the same time I started working for the local alt-weekly newspaper. Shooting assignments and learning from experienced photographers I have been able to really hone my skills as a photographer and as a person too.

More about Theodore W....

What do you love about your job?

I love meeting people and hearing their story. I love making a photo to tell whatever story that person has to tell. Doing something creative with my life and making a living is my ultimate goal. People will always be my favorite thing to photograph though. I've done product photography before but working with a person is so much more gratifying.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I have done all kinds of different shoots. I have done family portraits, business portraits, environmental portraits, individual portraits, senior portraits, studio portraits, products, and event/documentary photographs. I always try to really listen to my clients needs and also take into account what is practical and what will make them the best shoot possible. For instance I was asked to shoot a wedding proposal in Forest Park at 10pm in December...It was essentially pitch black with cloud coverage that night. I told my client that I can make the best portraits possible of you but I either need to light the moment before hand or it's going to be a very challenging photograph to take. The client listened to me and I made a decent photograph of the moment and we made some beautiful portraits afterwards. I know the technical challenge as well as the best way to light things if needed.

A fun fact about this photographer

I love nature and being outside. My end goal for every day is to get my office work done so I can take a hike or at least walk around my neighborhood.
