More about Tomi C....

What do you love about your job?

I love that my job allows people to see the world through another individual’s eyes. How do we know that what we see is the same as the person next to you? It always comes back to the question of whether the world is a glass half full or is the world half empty. I love that I can turn even a yucky memory into a beautiful memory with the way I perceive colors, lights and vision. I love hearing the words, “I don’t remember that day like, I guess we all had an amazing time after all!” And whoever said that cameras captures souls, wasn’t wrong. With every click of my camera I take a little bit of you and keep it in this world as a memory “that was” to a “time that could be.” It is my job and I love it.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

Before I dabbled in wedding photography, a majority of my time was spent planning weddings instead. I know that a successful wedding is usually determined long after the wedding is done Even if the wedding day was chaotic and/or disorganized the story that a photographer tells should not be. And that is what sets me apart, because I know when and where I should be to capture the most important shots. In addition, I have been told that I have a good eye when it comes to composition, which goes back to why I love taking photos so much. There are just so many times I wish I could describe in words what I am seeing, but my limited vocabulary somewhat impedes that.

I have also done different kinds of portrait photography on my own time including, modelling, fashion, professional headshots and family portraits. I think most photographers will agree with me that, a majority of the people that we work with are usually quite camera shy. And each photographer has their own methods of making the subject become more comfortable in front of the camera. I feel that it is important to use tactics that makes people feel natural and forget that I am even pointing a camera at them. And I think that is reflected a lot in my work.

A fun fact about this photographer

I have been a full time restaurant for almost 10 years now, and I plan to still do that on the side when I take my photography full-swing.
