Andrew Mw
Seattle
Canon EOS 6D
Andrew has been shooting freelance photography for about 5 years now, but he got his start in High School thanks to a film photography class and the advanced photo students who took him under their wing. Although he didn't have his own camera in high school he was able to borrow and eventually keep the Cannon T2I from his teacher. After spending time with his camera and film friends he really started feeling the drive to shoot. Jump forward a year, he realized his friend was really active on Tumblr and had a decent following. They decided to take some pictures and he was eventually contacted by Langly Camera Bags because he had taken photos with their products and those photos where blowing up!Jump forward another year and his passion for photography as well as his passion for music landed him in contact with a company called Rain City Ambiance, who sent him around Seattle photographing concerts. He absolutely loved shooting shows and was really honing in on his individual style so Rain City sent him to Sasquatch 2015 as well as other small events.Beginning in 2016 he really wanted to start mixing things up with his photo style so he decided to dive into fashion and more modeling type photography and has been shooting with professional and amateur models ever since.

Rich W
Seattle
Nikon D850; Nikon D750; Nikon D700
Began as a landscape photographer back in the days of film. Starting out with film, well before the age of digital cameras, one learns how to get things right “in the camera” without the benefit of software to edit, adjust or correct an image after the image has been captured. Specializing in general photography or a photographer of nouns… people, places and things. The camera is little more than a tool, but an important tool, to communicate and tell stories with. Photography is about simplicity. It is about conveying a message. It is about the feeling and the connection that a good image creates for people. Work in the last year or two has largely concentrated on portrait, pet, wedding, architectural and real estate photography.

I migrated to photography from early artistic practice as a painter when I realized the subjects that intrigued me most shared the intersecting elements of time, light and the serendipitous arrangement of people and things. I grew to understand that photography has huge emotional impact that can literally burn in the memory of the viewer.

How did you get started with photography?

I got my first camera as a teenager and I only used it for capturing travel memories and family events. Not really thinking of using photography professionally, I went and got my degree in Web and Media Design. When I realized that every time I took photos I loved it. I started working on my skills, learning about the cameras, angles, and different types of photos. Then, people started noticing my photos and commenting on them so now I would like to work on more projects and adventure this new journey I am on.

What type of shoots do you enjoy doing the most?

Currently, I have been shooting a lot of Real Estate Photography and I love it. I also love Portraits, I am always finding ways, learning new skills to be better. Family Portraits, as challenging as they can be, they are so much fun. Different ways to capture a photo for the family to enjoy. Also, most importantly enjoying the process.

What are some of your favorite places in Seattle to take photographs?

Parks are perfect for a photo shoot. Depends on what and who I am working with but some specific places are Pike Place Market, Space Needle, Mercer Island Parks and by the beach.
