camera Canon EOS 70D

Hi there, I’m Matt, a portrait and headshot photographer, based on the Upper West Side, New York City. I have a private studio on the UWS, but love shooting outdoors and on location. The most rewarding photograph for me is the one where the subject sees something in their photo they've never seen before. I love working with the client to bring something out of them - an expression, a look, a subtlety, a vulnerable, intriguing or beautiful side of themselves that they haven't seen before in a photo. But even in non-directed shoots (events, parties, concerts), I still love focusing on capturing the essence of the person or moment. Portrait and headshot shoots are my favorite because of the personal nature of them. I love listening to a client, seeing them settle in to a shoot, seeing them become more comfortable, guiding and directing them and really - getting to know someone. The true joy in photography for me however, is actually nothing do to with the camera. Seeing the joy someone gets in seeing themselves in a way they've never have before, finding new a confidence, seeing their own beauty, seeing someone achieve their career goals or dreams with their new photos, is really the true satisfaction. Whatever your photo needs might be, I'll look forward to working together!

I’m Debbie but you can call be DJ. I am a NYC/NJ-based wedding, portrait, and lifestyle photographer. This epic journey all started when my close friend gifted me my first camera, a Canon T3i. After graduating with a degree in Dance and Psychology, I focused my passion for both studies & infused it with my love for art, thrusting myself full-time into learning photography & building a business. I believe photography is a powerful and transformative art form and everyone deserves quality photography service while capturing a special day. I use my charisma, genuine spirit, and flexibility to help my clients feel warm & comfortable while enjoying a personable experience in front of the camera. My work has been featured on NBC News, Vanity Fair, Teen Vogue, The Cut, Refinery29, BuzzFeed, Huffington Post, DapperQ, to name a few.

Stephanie S.
New York City

camera Canon EOS 6D

Stephanie Santos started Morning Bird Photography April of 2015. A Rio de Janeiro native, beauty has been abundant before my eyes since childhood. Nothing inspires me more than being able to portray people's natural beauty back to them. My focus is to let your essence shine as classy, edgy, regal, modern, quirky or whatever it may be. After four years in New York, I still get a major kick out of discovering new parts of the city introduced as my client's favorite areas. My style is best described as documentary portraiture. I just call myself a "people person photographer" who loves early mornings.

How did you get started with photography

I got started in photography at around the age of 11 when my mom gave me a digital camera. Ever since I picked it up, I was hooked. And it's been one of my favorite hobbies since especially when I travel. I got my first job in high school shooting adventure camps and dance programs during the summer. I was quickly promoted to be the Media team Director. I went to college to pursue Filmmaking and Animation. I also began traveling at a young age and and ever since, I have been capturing and sharing my experiences through photographs and videos.

What do you love about your job?

I love getting to meet interesting people from different parts of the world and getting their positive feedback of the photos I take of them. It has also allowed me the opportunity to keep traveling and meet more amazing people through my experiences.

What are some of your favorite places in New York City to take photographs?

My favorite place to shoot in New York is Dumbo. I know some great spots looking out at the city including a rooftop view of the Brooklyn bridge and New York skyline. I also like shooting in Central Park, which is a really beautiful location for photoshoots.
