Fell in love with photography when I was just a little kid; to me it was - and still is -magic. Started getting more serious about the craft in 1989 at Hofstra University and was blessed with some very knowledgeable professors. Got the photojournalism bug, had romantic dreams of flying off to distant lands, photographing conflict, famine and generally anything involving personal risk. Thank goodness THAT never happened. Landed a job with Newsday right out of college in 1994. Honed my skills working for five years with an incredibly talented staff of veteran photographers. Left in 1999 for graduate school at the prestigious Ohio University School of Visual Communications. Returned to New York and was hired as a photo editor for The Associated Press in 2001. Earned my Master of Arts in Visual Communications in 2003. Hired for a dream job in 2005 as corporate photographer for the NASDAQ Stock Market, spending the next four years meeting and photographing executives of the most influential corporations in America, as well as numerous celebrities. Running my own photography business since 2009.

Clarita Alave has always had an interest in photography, ever since she was a child. It wasn't until 2016 though that she truly started to hone her skills as a photographer. She attended the International Center of Photography School (ICP). It was here that she learned how to work with a DSLR camera and began experimenting almost exclusively in manual mode. In addition, she became proficient in post-processing images using programs such as Adobe Lightroom and Adobe photoshop. Furthermore, she has been gaining experience working with off-camera flash. Clarita started out shooting landscapes but eventually found that she preferred shooting portraits. She is currently focusing on high fashion, weddings and events, and family portraits. She has attended a number of workshops throughout NYC, Boston, and San Francisco. These workshops focused on a wide array of topics, such as, how to style a wedding, how to manage a photography business, the legal side of a photography business, how to take headshots, handling difficult clients/how to direct models, and how to properly use a flash for both men and women. Clarita is taking her lifelong love of photography and implementing it in ways that are positive for both her and her clients.

My name is Calvin and I've been shooting as a photographer since 2008. I started out working in various nightclubs, bars and lounges in New York City. It is at these venues and these conditions where I developed the technical skills and perspective on how to capture the moment at its finest. It was challenging and thrilling to operate in an environment that can be described as somewhat chaotic. As for my former manager said at the time, "if you and your camera can survive getting hit by a Grey Goose bottle, you can survive anything".

Rob Cuni is a professional commercial photographer with over twenty years of experience in photojournalism. What started out as a possible lucrative business opportunity and a chance to help his sister, whom had just graduated from CW Post with a degree in photography, Cuni opened St. James One Hour Photo back in 1987 in his native Long Island. It is there that he began to fully explore the many avenues in the world of photography. Coincidentally, during that time a good friend was also branching out into his area of expertise, professional baseball. Cuni began snapping pictures of the future Toronto Blue Jay and began covering baseball games among other sporting events for a local newspaper. In 1997, Cuni sold his store to pursue his passion full time. His commercial endeavors include photography for brochures and websites for various hotels, catering halls and real estate companies. He has photographed hundreds of hotels, campgrounds and complexes, including over 300 Best Western hotels throughout the US and Canada. Over the past several years he has photographed many Major League and Minor League baseball games all over the US. His works have been published in various publications including Baseball America, The Toronto Star, USA Today and Newsday among others. His work is becoming in high demand as in 2004 he was selected to photograph Hideki Matsui for the Taylor Publishing's hardcover book, Godzilla Takes the Bronx by Jerry Beach. In 2012 he provided the photography for Frank Catalanotto's hardcover book Heart & Hustle by Bantry Bay Publishing. Recently he provided the cover images of Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez for Bryan Hoch’s book, The Baby Bombers published by Diversion Books. In the past several years he has started to photograph local Long Island landmarks and landscapes, in 2019 his work will be on display throughout Long Island at several libraries and art galleries each month. While his work leads him to travel often, Cuni still calls Long Island his home. He resides in St. James, New York where he has many ties to the community. Cuni prefers to use Nikon cameras and lenses, Tamron lensesand Apple computer products.

I have been into photography since i was 15 years old (so almost 30 years at this point). I graduated Moscow State Unvercity with a Degree in Photo Journalism. Have worked a freelance for various media outliets in Moscow, Russia. Have started my wedding career in 2003 and have photographed and captured on film hundreds of weddings. Every wedding is unique and the key is to find that something special about each couple and try to reflect that in my images. My background as a photojournalist gave me a good eye for catching those special moments that happen at every wedding, but can easily be missed if not able to recognize and capture them. A successful wedding photographer or cinematographer must have the ability and flexibility to handle any unpredictable situation on a busy wedding day and still deliver consistent quality images. You can trust me with your wedding and your memories!!

How did you get started with photography

In 2011, I got started with photography using an entry level DSLR, it was my sister’s gift. I was shooting just for my hobby. I would go out with my camera every day and photograph cool things that I came across in the street, like plants, objects, and my photographer friends. I could develop my skills as soon as I moved to NY in 2014, when I used to work as "Executive Assistant" in a Staten Island office. My husband is a professional photographer and film maker, so he taught me how to shoot and retouch pictures with Lightroom. In 2016, I finally left my office work to dedicate myself fulltime to photography.

What do you love about your job?

I love touching souls with my art. Taking pictures is a true passion for me and always will be.

What are some of your favorite places in New York City to take photographs?

My favorite places to shoot portraits in New York are Dumbo in Brooklyn (between the bridges), Central Park, Grand Central and SoHo.
